CCGMS Sponsored Field Trips

Field trip canceled, Tom came down with Pneumonia.

Its going to be a beautiful day on Saturday out west according to weather service, so everyone should think about going outside and enjoying their Saturday.

The club tries to schedule field trips throughout the year to places we can all have fun.  Some trips are day trips around the Peninsula and others are trips to faraway places that can be for a week or longer.  We publish the trips in our Ore-Bits Newsletter and on this web site.  Also many day trips are organized and planed during the monthly business meetings and the info does not make it into the Ore-Bits Newsletter.  So it is a good idea to come to the business meetings or check the club web site often to see what is going on.

The club is always looking for field trips to sponsor.  If you know of a field trip that another club has planned, or have a place in mind that you think other club members would like to visit, come to the general meeting, and propose the trip.  You can also e-mail our club field trip coordinator with your idea at fieldtrips(at)olympicrocks(dot)com, or talk to any instructor or club officer.  Please use the membership list you receive twice a year.  If you do not have a current members ship list you can pick one up at the monthly general meeting or at most classes.

MAY:

May - 9, 2009:
One day trip planned to West of Lake Crescent to learn how to search for and find some Poppy Jasper.  Tom Ellison will be taking members to three locations where Poppy Jasper is commonly found. Please call Tom's cell phone right away and let him know if you are planking on going at 460-1333.  Members who live in Sequim will all meet up at the JC Penny's parking lot at 8:00am on Saturday.  We will be leaving Sequim at 8:15.  The members who live in Port Angeles will meet up with the Sequim members in the Albertson's pacing lot at 8:40 at which time we will all leave Port Angeles at 8:50am heading to the rendezvous point which is at the West End of Lake Crescent at the campground where we will be all having lunch.

Remember to bring good hiking boots, rain coat, and warm clothes a must.  A change of clothes is also a good idea.  We are still hoping it will not rain on this May 9th Saturday.  But remember we all know this is the West End of the North Olympic Peninsula we are heading to and it rains over 100 inches every year.  If it looks likely that it will rain and be miserable we will call everyone who is planning on going and try to reschedule the trip for another weekend.
